Description:
This article provides a general description of Switch Node Interface carriers. This is a supplement to the article "Troubleshooting avCmAlmSysLinkMinor traps."
Steps:
Refer to Avaya Documentation "Avaya Aura® Communication Manager Alarms, Events, and Logs Reference" at https://support.avaya.com/css/secure/documents/101058057 under the heading "PKT-INT and System Reliability."
Switch Node Interface (SNI) carriers, associated SNI boards, Switch Node Clocks, DS1C boards and Switch Node carriers are the predecessor to connections between IPSI boards and associated G650 carriers. Initially, they were connected to processor carriers and tone boards, but did not directly depend on the customer's IP network for connections to the Expansion Port Networks (EPN). Instead, they were connected by fiber to each EPN, or used DS1C boards to connect to remotely located cabinets. The SNI carriers were mounted in refrigerator-sized cabinets along with separate carriers that handled DS1 boards, digital station circuit packs, discrete trunk boards, and auxiliary trunk circuit packs, usually connected to paging systems. One of our customers still use a Switch Node arrangement to connect to other EPNs.
Here is a diagram of a single unduplicated Switch Node Interface carrier:
**A DS1 converter complex can provide connectivity to a remotely located port network. The DS1 converter complex consists of two TN574 DS1 converter (DS1C) circuit packs connected together with 1 to 4 DS1 facilities. The DS1C complex is administered as a fiber link.
Running the command "list fiber-link", you can see the connecting endpoints:
