Description:
IP Office 700516316 – ASP DELL R640 CLv2 Base Server P3 IPO Replacement Server updated RAID configuration to support PERC H750 RAID Controller. Attempts to downgrade pre-loaded 12.0 IP Office on ASP110 R640 fails with "No controller Found" and times out

Problem Clarification:
USB auto-install fails on attempted downgrade/installation of IP Office Server Edition. Servers came pre-delivered with v12.0 and downgrade was preferred. New PERC H750 RAID Controller settings cause installation/downgrade issues. PERC H750 RAID Controller settings, as well as non-documented disk configuration, prevents auto-install/auto-upgrade procedures as defined by Avaya documentation. Configuration is required per PSN006129u and on hard disks (not documented), as well as using a legacy Rufus version versus latest available. Current Rufus USB creation tool does not create a USB that will install the ISO for 11.1.3.2.
Current version Rufus error message (version 4.6.2208)
Cause:
PERC H750 RAID Controller settings, as well as non-documented disk configuration, prevents auto-install/auto-upgrade procedures as defined by Avaya documentation. Configuration is required per PSN006129u and on hard disks (not documented), as well as using a legacy Rufus version. Current Rufus USB creation tool does not create a USB that will install the ISO for 11.1.3.2.
Solution:
- Download Rufus version 3.14 from Rufus web (known good version, others may be viable, (known that 3.20 is not viable)
- Although 8Gb to 256Gb is referenced in documentation, anything above 64Gb requires Rufus to create the install USB disk - in my deployment, a Sandisk 256Gb USB was used
- Download IP Office Server Edition ISO 11.1.3.2 from support.avaya
- Create USB disk per Avaya documentation using Rufus 3.14
- Move syslinux.cfg and avaya_autoinstall.conf to root folder from USB folder as directed by Avaya documentation

- Return to Main Menu
- Navigate to Device Settings - RAID Controller in Slot 1...Dell PERC H750 Adapter Configuration Utility - Configuration Management - "Clear Configuration"
- Confirm and yes
- Navigate to Device Settings - RAID Controller in Slot 1...Dell PERC H750 Adapter Configuration Utility - Main Menu - Physical Disk Management - Select disks - (all must be done separately but complete) - Select Operation - "Cryptographic Erase"
- Confirm and complete for all disks (4 each)
- **This step is not included in PSN006129u
- Resume configuration per PSN006129u
- Resume installation per Avaya documentation
