Problem Statement
Avaya IX Messaging IXM (Consolidated) reports a minor CPU utilization warning. The alarm indicates that server CPU usage has reached a warning threshold, for example: CPU usage became Warning (97%).
Impact
High CPU utilization can indicate elevated traffic or processing load on the messaging server. If sustained or recurring, it may affect system responsiveness or messaging service performance.
Alarm
avIXAlmServCPUWarning
Troubleshooting Steps
- Confirm the active alarm details in the monitoring dashboard, including device type, maintenance object, alarm code, and reported CPU percentage.
- Check whether the alarm has already cleared. A clear event may appear as avIXAlmServCPUResolved with CPU usage returned to Normal.
- If the alarm is still active, monitor CPU utilization over several polling intervals to determine whether the spike is transient or sustained.
- Review recent traffic or operational changes that could explain increased CPU usage, such as higher message volume, maintenance activity, backups, or other scheduled tasks.
- If CPU utilization remains high or the alarm recurs frequently, collect current system health details and escalate according to the Avaya IX Messaging support process.
- After CPU returns to normal, verify that the alarm state is cleared in the monitoring dashboard.
Resolution
In the observed case, the minor CPU warning cleared without further intervention. The clear event reported avIXAlmServCPUResolved and CPU usage became Normal at 93%. No additional corrective action was recorded. Continue monitoring and investigate further if the warning persists or recurs.
