AES WebLM Connection Link Down

Problem Statement

Avaya Application Enablement Services (AES) raised a Minor alarm for maint object avAesWebLMConnLinkDown with the description: "The WebLM Connection link is down." The AES server had lost connection to WebLM through System Manager.

Impact

AES may be unable to confirm WebLM licensing status while the connection is down. If licensing remains unavailable, AES services that depend on valid licensing may be affected. In the observed case, service returned to normal after restoring the System Manager/WebLM connection.

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Confirm the alarm details in the monitoring dashboard and verify the affected device is Avaya Application Enablement Services (AES).
  2. Check AES License Service status from the AES command line using: /opt/mvap/bin/mvap.sh info LicenseService
  3. Review the command output for state, status, licenseMode, errorNumber, and errorMessage. A healthy state should show the License Service running, status ONLINE, and an error message similar to: "Normal licensing mode. No action is necessary."
  4. If the License Service is not ONLINE or indicates a WebLM connection problem, check System Manager/WebLM service availability and confirm AES can reach WebLM over the configured management path.
  5. If System Manager/WebLM is reachable but AES still shows the WebLM connection down, restart the JBoss service for System Manager using the approved Avaya/operations procedure.
  6. After the restart completes, re-run: /opt/mvap/bin/mvap.sh info LicenseService
  7. Confirm the License Service returns to ONLINE and Normal licensing mode.
  8. Verify the avAesWebLMConnLinkDown alarm clears in the monitoring dashboard. If it does not clear, continue investigation of System Manager/WebLM service health and connectivity between AES and WebLM.

Resolution

Restarting the JBoss service for System Manager restored the lost connection to WebLM. After the restart, the AES License Service reported status ONLINE and Normal licensing mode, and WebLM License Manager was back online.
