Troubleshooting Steps
- Confirm the alarm is active in the monitoring dashboard and record the alarm severity, maintenance object, alarm code, equipment number, and timestamp.
- Identify the affected media gateway or equipment entry using the reported equipment number from the alarm details.
- Access Avaya Communication Manager using the approved administration method for the environment.
- Review active alarms for the affected media gateway and confirm whether the MED-GTWY minor alarm is still present.
- Check the media gateway status and look for related faults, link issues, registration problems, hardware warnings, or resource issues associated with the same equipment entry.
- If available, review recent alarm history for repeated MED-GTWY events or correlated Communication Manager alarms around the same time.
- Verify network reachability between Communication Manager and the affected media gateway using approved operational tools.
- If the alarm has cleared in Avaya Communication Manager but remains open in the monitoring platform, resynchronize or acknowledge the monitoring event according to the standard monitoring procedure.
- If the alarm remains active or service impact is reported, escalate to the Avaya voice support team with the alarm object, notification identifier, severity, equipment number, and troubleshooting results.
Resolution
Resolve the underlying media gateway condition reported by Avaya Communication Manager. Once the media gateway alarm clears in Avaya Communication Manager, verify that the monitoring dashboard also clears or is manually updated according to the standard alarm-handling process.
