Problem Statement
A Linux server Platform alarm (PLAT-ALM) is generated for a Communication Manager server cluster. The alarm relates to the server cluster platform, including active and standby server health, hardware, processes, and duplication status.
Impact
Potential cluster platform health issue. If unresolved, the Communication Manager active/standby cluster may have degraded redundancy, hardware or process issues, or duplication problems.
Alarm
PLAT-ALM
Troubleshooting Steps
- Check the VSM ACM Summary dashboard for the affected Communication Manager.
- Mouse over each section of the dashboard to identify any additional platform, hardware, process, or duplication details.
- Verify that both active and standby servers show no active alarms.
- Confirm server hardware status is healthy on both cluster members.
- Confirm required server processes are running and healthy.
- Verify duplication status is healthy: the standby server is not busied, is refreshed, shadowing is on, and the duplication link is up.
- If any cluster health or duplication condition is not met, escalate to an engineer experienced with Communication Manager server platform and duplication issues.
Resolution
In the reported occurrence, no active alarms were found. If PLAT-ALM is present and all active/standby server health and duplication checks pass, continue monitoring. If any check fails, escalate for advanced platform or duplication troubleshooting.
