Problem Statement
A Major alarm is raised on Avaya Solutions Platform ASP (IDRAC) with maintenance object alertPowerSupplyAbsent. The alarm description reports that a power supply is absent, for example: "Power supply 1 is absent" on the main system chassis.
Impact
Server power redundancy may be degraded. If the remaining power supply or power source fails, the platform may lose power and services hosted on the server may be impacted.

Troubleshooting Steps
- Check whether approved maintenance is in progress for the affected site or server. If the alarm is related to planned maintenance, monitor until the maintenance window is complete.
- Log in to the server management interface, such as iDRAC, and confirm the active hardware event for the reported power supply slot.
- Verify whether the reported power supply is physically installed in the chassis. If it was intentionally removed during maintenance, confirm the expected return-to-service time.
- If the power supply is installed, check that it is fully seated and latched in the chassis.
- Check the AC power cable and upstream power source for the affected power supply. Confirm the power cable is connected securely and the power source is energized.
- Review iDRAC hardware logs for additional power supply, PSU redundancy, or chassis power events that may indicate a failed module or power feed issue.
- If the power supply remains absent after reseating and power checks, replace the affected power supply module according to the supported hardware maintenance procedure.
- After restoring or replacing the power supply, confirm in iDRAC that the PSU is present and healthy, then verify that the monitoring dashboard clears the alarm.
- If the alarm remains active after the hardware state is healthy, refresh or rediscover the device in monitoring and escalate to the appropriate server or hardware support team with sanitized alarm details and hardware event logs.
Resolution
The observed alarm was associated with planned maintenance. For future occurrences, validate whether maintenance is in progress first. If not maintenance-related, restore the missing power supply, correct cabling or power-source issues, or replace the affected PSU. Confirm iDRAC reports the power supply as present and healthy and that the Major alarm clears from monitoring.
