Description
Client is notified of a major alarm in CMM:Communication Manager Messaging. However, there is no service impact perceived.
Problem Clarification
Slurpd is used to propagate changes from one slapd database to another. If slapd is configured to produce a replication log, slurpd reads that replication log and sends the changes to the slave slapd instances via the LDAP protocol. slurpd is typically invoked at boot time, usually out of /etc/rc.
The message server detects that the LDAP Replication server (SLURPD process) is not responding and we received an alert VM SOFTWARE 6623.
Resolution
A reboot of the server and a stop and start of the messaging resolved the error. This is service impacting and should be done during a maintenance window. Please ensure that the client has made a snapshot of the VM if necessary.
Web into the CMM > Administration > Server > Shutdown Server > Shutdown (do an immediate shutdown)
Once server has returned, check Process Status - if Messaging application remains down, then stop and restart the messaging service.
Go to Administration > Messaging > Stop Messaging.
Once stopped/completed go to Administration > Messaging > Start Messaging
Ensure that the Messaging application is up via process status above. Of course calling the pilot number for the client and listen for "welcome to Audix" will confirm it as well.
