Description:
Investigating license status and utilization in Avaya CMS Supervisor
Solution:
The following steps go to show how to review the current licensing on your Avaya CMS server and how the monitoring logic on the license works to help you work around any ODBC errors you may see.
1) Log into Avaya CMS server via CLI with "cms" and switch to root user.
- Enter cmssvc at prompt
- When menu displays select Option "1"
- This will show all licensing and current license status.
In this case you see the user has 15 ODBC licensed sessions.
2) CMS does a license check every 10 minutes.
To view license log please navigate to /cms/env/lm/.
Cat the license.log file that covers the timeframe needed.
3) When the number of JDBC/ODBC sessions exceed, the licensed count, CMS enters the
License Error mode. The violation clears itself if the numbers stay below the limit
for 8 days since the last violation. If you do not clear the violation within the 30
days, CMS stays in the License Error mode. The system clears the JDBC/ODBC license
violation and CMS switches back to the License Normal mode if there is no
violation for 8 days.
